Need help to set on Netgear R7000 a blocklist to block smart tv's sending meta data at home

Hi everybody,

I bought a smart tv and I would like to connect it to internet but, at the same time, I would like to avoid that it sends meta data to the manufacturer and/or third parties.

As I own a Netgear R7000, I was thinking to reach my target applying a block at router level, with the help of tomato shibby's firmware. However after I looked on internet and did some attempts, I am still at the starting point, as nothing of what I tried worked.

Purchased a new R7000 to replace RT-N16 that I currently have AT on. When I try to install any version of tomato (Advanced, Shibby or Fresh) using the router's update option under Admin> Router update, I receive and error code stating the "this firmware file is incorrect". After many hours trying to install, I started researching thru the internet and apparently Netgear, and many other MFG's are now preventing outside firmware to be installed. OpenVPN 2.4 tls-crypt and Tomato

OpenVPN 2.4 brought us the "tls-crypt" option to encrypt the control channel.

Is this exposed in the GUI of the Tomato builds that include OpenVPN 2.4, or at least accessible through the custom config textbox? If the latter, could someone help me with it (how to point to the static key). Many thanks!

Turning leds off on Asus RT-N18u

I see to remember a way to power off leds on tomato.
Historically there used to be a led command but I'm trying this on the RT-N18 but it doesn't seem to do much.

Best Way to Backup Changed Settings / Configuration Only

Hello,

I am inquiring to find out what is the best way to capture only settings that have been changed from the default options, and if that is even possible?

My goal here is to build out a "nvram settings" config cheat sheet to have on hand any time I do an NVRAM erase, so that I'm able to quickly apply my configuration back to the router. I would prefer not to simply reapply an NVMRAM config restore, but instead apply one line (or multiple lines) copy/pasted back into the CLI to apply...

Wifi calling over T-mobile stops working on FreshTomato-ARM

I am running 2019.1 FreshTomato on a R6300v2. I have a oneplus 5 phone running ACPI. I have the phone set to prefer wifi calling. When I am connected to any other router I have no issues making wifi calls. I can connect to my neighbor's wifi and make calls without issue.
That should rule out cell issue and internet providers as the source of the issue.

During my troubleshooting I discovered that if I do not have the VPN client set = start with WAN I am able to make wifi calls for a few...

Help me get more than 600 Mbps on my Asus RT-AC68R/U running FreshTomato 2019.1 K26ARM USB VPN-64K on the 5 GHz bandwidth. I've tried several Channel/Channel Width/Control Sideband combination and that's the max that I can get. My understanding is that I should be able to get up to 900-1300... My mac verifies that what appears on status is what I'm actually getting.

VLAN tagging for WAN interface help

I am having trouble figuring out how to make sure I am correctly tagging my WAN interface on my Asus RT-AC68R/U as VLAN 201. I am trying to replace the standard Centurylink router (Actiontec C3000A) with my Asus. The Asus is running Fresh 2019 (was Shibby). There is a section under advanced where it appears to have the ability but I dont think my configuration is correct. I have read some other guides where they have a VID offset value, but my router/firmware combo doesnt have that setting....

Missing 5GHz

Just got a Linksys E2500v3 and installed Shibby v140 USB firmware. I noticed that whenever I add some lines in DNSMasq, the 5GHz wifi disappears. No eth2, not even in any of the settings? Do we have a fix for this? I've got some things I need to put in the DNSMasq but couldn't put all of it because then the 5GHz wifi disappears.

Problem with OpenVPN on FT 2019.1

I have a problem connecting to OpenVPN server running on my FT 2019.1. I've generated all the keys and setup server as shown on pictures bellow. I've generated also a client config file that looks like this:

As you can see I had to comment line "crypt tls" because its's not recognized by opwnvpn client...

Ok, the topic question is a bit stupid (couldn't find a better one) and my post itself is probably stupider. I have a feeling I already know the answer to my question but I have to ask it and be sure...

Anyway, I have an OpenVPN client configured on my router to connect to an OpenVPN server I've setup myself on a Google Could Platform VM I own. I have Pi-Hole configured on that VM and my router and the whole network can access Pi-Hole's IP (and DNS Server) because the router is connected to...

hey guys

I just got a asus rt-n66u and tried to install tomato to it for the first time, after holding down the reset button and plugin the power cable for RT-N66U and go into firmware restoration utility and upload Tomato after couple of seconds I get "the wireless router is not in rescue mode"
anybody know what I am doing wrong?

IP traffic monitoring does not work once OpenVPN client is activated

Hi,

IP traffic monitoring works great as long as the OpenVPN Client is off. Once the client is started, it takes about 15 seconds before the new VPN IPs are assigned. During that 15 seconds laps, The router is using the ISP IPs. I can monitor the incoming and outgoing IP traffic but once the router switches to my VPN IPs, I can only monitor outgoing traffic, incoming traffic is ignored. Stopping and restarting the IP traffic monitoring service did not fix the problem.

To me, it looks like...

Fresh Tomato 2018.5, SSH and file sharing not working over 5G Wifi

I am using 2018.5. I cannot SSH into the router via LAN IP if I am on 5G wifi. Works just fine on 2.4G wifi. And it looks like file sharing has the same issue.
Internet works for both on 5G and 2.4G, and I can ping the router LAN IP using both 5G and 2.4G wifi. Any idea?

I've been trying to get my router [R7000 running FreshTomato] to block as many ads and malicious sites as possible. Sounds reasonable, right?

I modified the default adblocking script to get it's "list of lists" from https://v.firebog.net/hosts/lists.php?type=all, but it seems like the result is just too much for dnsmasq to handle.. at least with the default settings.

How can I change the dsnmasq settings to allow it to use more memory, or is it really at the limit of what the...

In looking further into why my Wireless Ethernet Bridge (WEB) router (running FreshTomato 2019.1) cannot get the current time on Status->Overview page I discovered that my WEB router does not have a default route in its routing table and the two files ntp.conf and resolv.dnsmasq (which resolv.conf is symbolically linked to) are missing in its /etc directory. I have been using putty (on my laptop) to establish a SSH tunnel back to home router (which runs the SSH server) for web browsing at unsecured public wifi for quite some time. However, some time ago (probably a couple of months ago), it stopped working.

optware segfault

I upgraded optware and now I can't run any apps from /opt (including opkg).
They print "Segmentation fault".
There is nothing in /var/log/messages

Any ideas?

[Shibby] MultiWAN load balancing utilized only single interface

Shibby 1.38, E4200; Two lines, load balancing weighted 1:3, between 25/10 DSL and 75/10 Cable;

Problems:
1. Speed tests shows max upload of 10, not 20=10+10; max down 75, not 100=25+75
2. Real-time Bandwidth shows WAN1 traffic=0

Tried different weights, 0:1, 1:0, 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 5:12,4:15, same results.

Is this expected behavior?What other configs to test? How to confirm DualWAN is working?
