Tomato QOS Tutorial

INTRODUCTION

I've moved a number of posts here from odd places on the forum so this can become a QOS thread with a particular slant on large installations. While the article is concerned with a large number of users in big premises, obviously, if the QOS will work here, it will also work (and probably even better) for you - as a normal...

Few questions about builds and conditionals, RT-N and Belkin builds

Hi, I've recently started messing with some of my old Belkin F7D8301 routers and in the process of working out the VLANs discovered there's Belkin specific firmware located in the RT-N builds. I've had tomato installed for a long time and never known about these builds. It seems these were created by Teaman, but aside from that I'm not clear what's the best builds for these routers. I have run:
Toastman: tomato-K26USB-1.28.xxxx.2MIPSR2Toastman-RT-VLAN-VPN
and

I was wondering has anyone successfully compiled node on MIPS?

I can't seem to get gigabit speeds on some of my devices even though they are supported. I have Freshtomato 2018.2 K26ARM USB AIO-64K-NOSMP installed.

NOT WORKING:
PC - updated drivers, tried old drivers too
PS3

Tried manual negotiation for my PC and PS3. PC still connected at 100Mbps, PS3 lost its connection.

WORKING:
PS4

Tried checking cables. Used cables for PC and PS3 on PS4 and got gigabit speeds so I don't think cables are the cause. Tried exchanging ports too and PS4 got...

OpenVPN Kill Switch (LAN Only - Access Point Mode)

Hi
I have spent a while searching the net looking for an answer to the following, but I'm beginning to think I'll be forced to use the WAN port, but here goes..

Let's say you have a fritzbox router/PBX and you decide to add a 2nd router running tomato (running OpenVPN, but no DHCP) and hook it up via the LAN ports (with the 2nd router on the same subnet, using the fritzbox router as its gateway) is it possible to kill all the traffic to the default gateway (the fritzbox) should the OpenVPN...

I think Shibby's Tomato is not using both cores on my R7000

I am running the latest Shibby release. I run the OpenVPN client on the router. I noticed this when doing a heavy download over VPN. I noticed CPU was very busy but core 0 was 100% idle.

This doesn't seem right. Although the taskset of openvpn is set to 0,1 the scheduler isn't migrating anything to the second core. Explicitly setting the taskset of the process causes it to run on the second core

taskset -cp 1 $(ps w |grep vpnclient1 |grep -v grep | awk '{print $1}')

This gave me a...

How to flash Linksys EA6300v1, EA6400, EA6500v2, EA6700, EA6900v1.0/1.1 with Tomato.
The EA6300v1 uses the same firmware as EA6400 since the routers are exactly the same.

WARNING:
If anything goes wrong this can brick your router and I will not be held responsible if that happens. You're doing this at your own risk.

For these router a different CFE needs to be flashed otherwise only 32k of NVRAM can be used and that is not enough but for the most basic setup....

Automated Custom Policy Routing - v1.3

I have started to use Policy routing more and more. I have noticed though that the current implementation relies heavily on NVRAM. Nothing wrong with the NVRAM but if you have lots of domains/IP you want to selective transfer via VPN connectivity the GUI doesn't scale very well. Also you might have a "list" of domains you just want to paste somewhere rather than add them manually one by one.

At voila' ACPR does this for you. Just change the path on the first command here below

Will Advanced Tomato e4200 Firmware Work With e3000 Router?

$

I have a Linksys e3000 router I would like to install Advanced Tomato on, but I don't believe there are any official AT releases for the e3000. My understanding though, is that the AT releases use the Shibby releases, and just update the GUI, so the AT e4200 release is based on the Shibby K26 releases (which do support the e3000).

Would the e4200 AT release then work with the e3000? Is there a particular functional reason why each AT release is only listed as compatible with a single...

I was tried Zerotier on Tomato, it is failed in the end. It can not create the "virtual networking interface" when it runs:

The original first message of this thread, when tomato was not yet ported, can be found at the bottom of this post. Tomato is now operational on the F9K1102 (v1 and v3 only), so I've changed the first post to reflect this.

Tomato has been ported to the Belkin N600 DB Wireless N+ (F9K1102 v1 and v3 only). A screenshot is attached to this post. Unfortunately, stability has been an issue; frequent reboots have been reported by several users. This project is on hiatus as I have...

Hello,

I recently upgraded to Tomato from ASUSWRT Merlin.

I've got an Original Xbox I use as a gaming/media box and was FTPing on my LAN between my computer through the RT-AC68U to the Xbox using FileZilla at ~11MB/s. Xbox has a 100M connection. Everything is hardwired and using Cat6.

After installing FreshTomato 2019.1.015-beta, FTP speeds have slowed to ~2-4MB/s. I am totally lost as to why I'm getting the slowdown and have searched high and low for an answer in these forums and on...

It has been a while since I have been on these Forums, but I was curious if we have proper support of Link-Aggregation in the updated Fork?

Last I heard there was a missing bonding.ko module in earlier Shibby builds. If it is included could I see some example configs, and your thoughts on setup?

Thanks!

Info
Tinc automatically sets up a mesh VPN between multiple nodes in a network. Each daemon will communicate directly to every other daemon if possible. I find it very easy to setup, even if you only want to connect only two Nodes.
