Restore R7000 flashed with Tomato to default

Hi all,

I purchased a netgear r7000 about a year ago with the aim of having a VPN-configured router for all household activity. However, being relatively uninformed, I was disappointed at the speeds I was getting once it was all set up. I installed Advanced Tomato on it and configured my chosen VPN service on there. Went through some lengthy technical support but the max speed we could get was around 19mb per sec.

In the end I just chucked the router in a cupboard and forgot about it....

I have started to use Policy routing more and more. I have noticed though that the current implementation relies heavily on NVRAM. Nothing wrong with the NVRAM but if you have lots of domains/IP you want to selective transfer via VPN connectivity the GUI doesn't scale very well. Also you might have a "list" of domains you just want to paste somewhere rather than add them manually one by one.

At voila' ACPR does this for you. Just change the path on the first command here below

Also you might have a "list" of domains you just want to paste somewhere rather than add them manually one by one.

This thread may help others who want to make changes at their own, when features like in my case were retired.

What I've done so far is following this HOW TO COMPILE FRESH TOMATO on Debian 9.x / 64bit

Ok, tools are configured and the source code is downloaded. How do I add what's removed and compile it so I get my own 2018.4 version with this feature? In my case, this was nocat: Captive Portal.

Can anyone help to create...

Saving the Settings...

Hi..
I've been searching the forum, but could not find anything about this...please bare with me if this has been asked before...

On my Netgear R6300v2, every time I click "save" settings...no matter what it is, I lose wifi connection for about about 1-2 minutes, I also lose LAN connection as well... sometimes, I have to reboot the router to get connectivity again..

I have an Asus RT-AC68P and this does not happen to it.. I can make many different changes and save them, I never lose wifi...

Well, my doubts are sbout if i set for exsmple
echo 400 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/icmp_ratelimit
echo 6168 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/icmp_ratemask
ratelimit, is about icmp packets that i send(4 in this case, for example) per second? or are this about icmp packets that iIreceive?
if if put this is like I have on firewall wan ping respond enable (because i prefer not)?


my other question is about queue of packets, ua have and asymmetrical dsl with 2.5mbs of upstream and 10.900mbps of dowstream but my...

I have some doubts about icmp_ratelimit and other commands. Could you explain me about?

How would I force an OpenVPN client to have a particular IP address?

I am connecting a could-based replica DC through OpenVPN, so I need to make sure that it always has the same IP address (172.31.111.150).

Not entirely off topic but I would invite everyone who wants to better understand what the issue is with DNS Security nowadays and what chronologically has been attempted/developed until we got to Stubby.

I can easily say this has been the best 1 hour learning I had for long time.

Hi everyone,

I've spent all night trying to figure out how to connect my router to my modem via Wireless Ethernet Bridge to no avail, and I nearly feel like giving up after searching and searching for only so few websites and threads addressing Tomato from 2014 with outdated information as results. Coming from DD-WRT, where most Broadcom routers seem to have issues running Repeater modes (I'm going to assume AP as well) with a secured Virtual Interface, Tomato seems a lot more complicated...

Help needed, WAP, guest VLAN, no DCHP response

I'm having problems with a guest vlan on a WAP being able to get DHCP address when connecting.
The primary LAN (the main one) I can roam and jump between the main router and the AP.
I have the VLAN configured the same on both main router and AP router.

Wireless enabled in the admin / admin access but I don't think this is needed as it's wired and I'll only connect wired (thinking I should have this disabled, but Toasman's tutorial said to enable...)
The authentication is correct on the AP...

Trying to packet capture on Tomato. Wireshark won't read tcpdump file. Would like to use rpcapd.

I have Tomato v1.28.0000 MIPSR2-123 K26 Max on an ASUS RT-N12. I found an old tcpdump version 3.9.8. I can capture packets and "tcpdump -r capture.pcap" seems to read the file okay. I transfer the file using WinSCP in binary mode. The file transfers over in the original size okay, I use the same program to transfer tcpdump over so it seems to be working ok, but the latest version of Wireshark for Win 7 doesn't read it, I get "The file "capture.pcap" could not be opened: Unknown error." I've...

Redirect traffic to Restricted YouTube?

I can have everyone connected to my router be redirected to the Restricted mode of Youtube...but, I don't want to do that... I am looking to have certain devices only to be redirected to YouTube restricted mode.

Need to HIDE my router from lan users

On some of my public networks, I need the ability to hide my router ..

Sometimes we get users who like to tinker by scanning out hosts on the LAN .. My router serves certain functions, but is NOT the DHCP router on the network .. Here's my setup:

172.16.0.254 - Cisco 800 Series Router (DHCP/DNS)
172.16.0.101 - 172.16.199 - DHCP HOST RANGE
172.16.0.63 - Linksys WRT54GL (FTP/HTTP) no dhcp running

I need to block ICMP on the LINKSYS .. I want to make it...

I've been running Tomato Shibby 1.40 on an Asus RT-AC66U for a long time. Specifically, tomato-RT-AC66U_RT-AC6x--140-AIO-64K.trx. Works great.

That OS was released in May 2017, so today I thought I'd look around to see if there's something better. Looks like FreshTomato is it, but I couldn't install either of these:

freshtomato-RT-AC66U_RT-AC6x-2018.5-AIO-64K.trx
freshtomato-RT-AC66U_RT-AC6x-2018.5.083-beta-AIO-64K.trx

They both misbehaved the same - when I rebooted after the install,...

Hello, i just received a Nighthawk AC2100 to replace my aging and problematic linksys e3200, and i have been looking to see if there is tomato support for this model.

I tried searching around on this site and google, etc. and it seems like its not mentioned. I'm hoping because its a new model and not because its an unusual one.... any insight appreciated thanks!

Problem with FreeDNS on FreshTomato 2018.3

As stated above I have a problem with the update of my ip on FreeDNS.com. I had been using the same settings on Shibby 1.40 and didn't experience any problems (did upgrade with nvram erase). Honestly, I didn't check if DDNS is working right after update, just noticed it yesterday. Now I'm getting an "Unknown error (-1)". I've tried already new token from FreeDNS but still no luck. Any ideas what could happend? No-ip.com service works ok.
