Scanning from a multifunction printer connected to the router via USB

Hey there, I've got a router (Tenda N60) with the Shibby's Tomato FW installed. A multifunction printer is connected to it via the USB port. I am able to print, but scanning is not available. AFAIK, to enable the scanning feature, I need to install Optware/Entware and sane-backend packages. The problem is, there's only a single USB socket on the router, therefore I can't attach a thumb drive and the printer to the router at the same moment.
