should I set a same channel number to primary router and tomato-repeater router?

Hi,

I want tomato to be a repeater to extend my WiFi. Can I set a different channel for my tomato-repeater? because if I put a same channel to primary and repeater, I think they will interfere each other at the overlapping area.
