FreshTomato 2020.1 ssh "Access Denied"

I use putty to ssh into my routers. I have used Shibby from revision 108 (Many years!) until now and have always been able to ssh without issue.

I try to login with Username "admin" (Without the quotes of course)
and Password (The right password).
I get the response "Access Denied"

The log file says:
"Login attempt for nonexistent user from 192.168.240.184:62498"
though the Username field is annotated " (empty field means "admin"). I have never filled in the Username field before and...
