Is a long-running firewall script a problem?

My firewall script fetches a script from a web server (to do some blocking of IPs that the web server has determined are causing trouble). There may be cases where the web server isn't running yet when the router is booting, and so my firewall script has a loop that checks for a response from the web server, and sleeps for a bit if it's not found.

If the web server crashed for some reason, my firewall script might loop for a very long time. Is this a problem? Does anything in Tomato block...
