Tomato OpenVPN unable to ping down tunnel, either end

I am trying to set up a Linksys router with Tomato (v1.28 by Shibby) as an OpenVPN client.

The Linksys router is behind DSL router (192.168.17.1) via LAN port.

I have assigned the Linksys router LAN IP 192.168.17.20, with gateway 192.168.17.1, and switched off DHCP ( This is to avoid Double NATing when using the WAN Port).

Connected to another LAN port of the Linksys is an IP phone 192.168.17.30, with gateway set to 192.168.17.20 (Linksys).
